Things made out of silicon, like baking forms, or seals are used because they withstand high temperatures.
Si has a boiling point of 2355 C
Si has a melting point of 1410 C
Just to name a few things, the element Si silicon is very useful.

The first scientist who prepared and characterized Silicon in pure form was Jons Jakob Berzelius in 1823.
