DNA, the code of life
Genetics, including molecular biology
The study of life
The word Biology comes from old Greek βίος|
bíos 'life' + λόγος lógos 'study'.
Biology in the true meaning of the word is the most important branch of science.
Zoology, the study of animals, how to raise animals, livestock - Fauna
Botany, the study of plants, helping agriculture, helping ecology - Flora
Microbiology, the study of of microorganisms, helping to fight disease,
Molecular biology, the study of life on the molecular level
Cellular biology, studying types of cells, how cells work.
Physiology, study of tissue and organs
Ecology, the interactions between organisms
Ethology, understanding the behavior of animals
Biochemistry, the interface between biology and chemistry:
Everything in our universe is made out of atoms.
Every living being has a lot of cells. Tiny creatures are made up of only one cell, while bigger ones have many cells.
Imagine: An adult human body has ~37 trillion cells.
Sorry, this number is difficult to imagine.
So let's go to the basics:
What is the substance of cells?
A variety of molecules, mainly proteins, lipids and carbohydrates.
Ten-thousands of different chemical reactions are happening all the time.
Two-thirds of a cell is water.
Two-thirds of our whole body is water.
Water = H2O
Water is made out of
two atoms 2 Hydrogen and 1 Oxygen
Without these two elements, life = bios as we know it, would not be possible!

Trees exist for 370 million years on earth. For a long time earth was covered by many trees!
Photosynthesis is very important!
Life on Earth would be different without Rain-forests- humans need rain-forests!
Mangroves protect Earth's shore lines, store CO2
protect young marine life, slow down erosion!

Some trees have wonderful blossoms in Spring
Other trees have no visible bark

Juniperus is found all over earth!
In Texas some call it 'Cedar" but it's a Juniper
Every country on earth has its native wildflowers.

Pedigree of Man|
Ernst Heinrich Philipp August Haeckel
1834 - 1919
A German zoologist and contemporary of Charles Darwin. Haeckel was sure Darwin's evolutionary theory was correct, because his own research confirmed Darwin's theory.
Ernst Haeckel defended evolution and worked hard to prove it fact.
Some called him Darwin’s Bulldog on the Continent
Most plants need Carbon Dioxide CO2
But too much CO2 in the air is harmful for humans!
Burning fossil fuels releases once stored carbon dioxide. Too much carbon dioxide changes Earth's climate!
Nature will survive without Humans BUT Humans cannot survive without Nature
Think about and see how wonderful our Earth was created + live in Harmony with Nature + learn to understand Nature!
