H = Hydrogen 2 = two Hydrogen O = Oxygen Water H2O   Look at the beautiful Texas river! Can you see if the river water is clean? How do you know if you can swim in it without getting sick? Texas Stream Team is a network of trained volunteers and supportive partners working together to gather information about the natural resources of Texas and to ensure that information is available to all Texans. Volunteers are trained to collect quality-assured information that can be used to make environmentally sound decisions.  The mission of the Texas Stream Team To facilitate environmental stewardship by empowering a statewide network of concerned volunteers, partners, and institutions in a collaborative effort to promote a healthy and safe environment through environmental education, data collection, and community action. Texas Stream Team goals: A) To produce quality-assured, usable information that government agencies, waste generators, and the public need to make environmentally sound decisions B) To improve communication and facilitate education about the natural resources in Texas C) To resolve conflicts over environmental impacts through positive cooperation These goals are founded on the premise that water issues are inextricably linked with air, biological, land, and human issues, and that the protection of all natural resources requires the active, positive cooperation of all Texans The water tests we do are: pH (see our website water pH) Conductivity Water temperature Dissolved Oxygen (DO) Turbidity Salinity E-Coli |

The only way to know if the river water has tolerable amounts of E-Coli is to test the water with a special kit. But we don't test only for E-Coli, we test many parameters that show if stream water is healthy and supports life or not  Healthy water is very important for all life! How do we use our water? Every drinking water provider
has to provide a 2 page water analysis
for every customer.
The water testing is done every week
to secure good healthy drinking water.
Most tap water in Germany is cleaner
and more healthy than bottled water.
When fertilizer runs into creeks, rivers and streams algae growth can threaten wildlife
What can we do to keep our water clean?
Wouldn't it be nice to have lakes where we can swim, fish, paddle?
On the banks we can relax, play, watch the birds,
discover aquatic plants, enjoy nature and have
a good time with family and friends..
That's why it is important to protect Nature!
